Swamp Tour in New Orleans?

I will be taking a swamp tour leaving from New Orleans. What company should I use? Who is the best?

I prefer the Honey Island Swamp Tours. You can get them from downtown, they will take you in a van to the swamp in Slidell.

The other option is to do a self-tour (walking) by driving to the Barataria Unit of the Lafite National Park on the west bank of the river.

I did Cajun Pride with my mother a year ago. It was fantastic! They even picked us up at our hotel. It was wonderful. We were able to pet a baby alligator, feed alligators marshmallows (they think they are eggs). Get some history on the area and swamp life. We got to see the set for "Wild Boys" from MTV. It was fantastic. I highly advise it. We are going to New Orleans again this August and doing the Cajun Pride again but this time with my brother and fiancé.

I HIGHLY recommend going on a airboat tour rather than a big boat. You can go in more rugged areas and with only your group. IT is more personal. Going on a big boat with about 30 other people is not fun and the kids scare everything away. Also, I suggest going in the Atchafalaya Basin. It is the most gorgeous and full of life. This link is my favorite photographer he takes gorgeous photos of the atchafalaya http://www.cclockwood.com/stockimages/atchafalayalandscape.htm
