I’m a very proud Louisianian, and I am just curious to know what non-Louisianians think of Louisiana?
I’m very proud of my state’s beauty and culture. Sometimes the way Louisiana is portrayed on the big screen is irritating but funny at times, such as ‘ Water Boy ‘. But as far as that, Louisiana has unique foods (Crawfish , boudin, Gumbos, very big on seafood, Love lots of flavor and spice, One of the national famous Louisiana Hot sauces is manufactured in Avery Island,30 mins from my residence ,etc) , Culture (Cajun & Creole French culture, Acadian) , Festivities (Festival International, Mardi Gras, etc)
Beautiful Sceneries, such as the Bayous, Swamps, Cypress trees, historic houses and towns ex., New orleans, New Iberia, etc.
Just to give you a little mental tour, but I would love to know what others think! : ) !
laissez les bons temps roulez !! Let the good time roll!!
Yes I want honest answers, as someone asked earlier. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I asked the question, so answer it. This little detail is just to the people who thinks they’re offending me. I take the igonorance with the intelligence : )
I’m from NJ originally (don’t live there now) my wife is from LA,and I like it. Though I can’t go there in the summer because of the red bugs. What I like best are the people there. We’ll be going down there in Feb or March.

Simple folk with funny accents. Devastated New Orleans deserves better. Great food, nice culture in New Orleans. Too much racial division. The rest of the state seems backwards, but sweet to northeastern snobs, like me

We think you’re hicks with no lives. The stuff you said kind of proved it.
EDIT: Actually I was just being brutally honest, I wasn’t trying to offend you. But don’t try and pretend like you weren’t offended, since you gave me a thumbs down.

Well, all that’s really wonderful and I’m sure there must be a lot of charms to the state … I’ve visited New Orleans long before Katrina, and I loved how everything seemed, almost, to go kind of so slo-mo. I don’t know, the willow trees and soft humid winds and all ..perhaps .. just made me see things like that.
But in general, I just associate LA with the South, with a lot of racial history full of the terrible and some beautiful. Katrina human debacle first comes to mind. Outside of New Orleans with all the carnivals and French Quarters and all that, when I hear LA unfortunately I think of struggling state economy, and vestiges of the old Jim Crow segregation, and Paris incident a couple of years ago.
I’m writing from upstate NY … it’s snowing outside, quite a different picture from down there, huh?

i don’t love the politics, but sure do love the food. one of the best meals of my life was at brunet’s in baton rouge. crab etoufee (wimped out on the crawfish), boudin balls, petit pains… oh man, wish i was there right now. and beautiful scenery. graveyards with wrought iron fencing and spanish moss everywhere. gorgeous.

Hot, humid and has good food. Interesting history and culture. I’d like to visit again but I couldn’t live there. A bit too warm for me and I’m not a fan of high humidity. Still, it’s a nice place to visit.
