what is the average cost for staying in new orleans for mardi gras?

what is the average cost for staying in New Orleans for Mardi gras? im an accountancy student and I NEED to know the average cost so i have a base cost to go by. Exact cost preferred but average cost will do.

figure a hotel room with 2 double beds maximum occupancy of 5 at $250 to $300 a night.

food and drink depends on if your a champagne type a guy or a lucky dog patron

you can save a lot of money buy visiting the grocery store and mixing up a batch of your favorite alcohol in a plastic jug. (no glass or cans allowed on the street)

the same goes for food, if your room has a fridge you can make sandwiches and save a ton of money, avoid room service and put a lock on the mini bar.

if your drinking in a bar avoid running a tab, it’s easier to keep count of your money if your paying cash and avoids any surprises at the end of the night.

if your drinking at Pat O’s on the patio don’t forget to cash in your glasses as the price they charge is if you want to keep them.

There are scores of hotels in the city center and hundreds in the metro area, so average cost depends greatly on location. Hotels in the city center normally require a multi-night minimum during the last five days for Carnival (Mardi Gras is not just one day in New Orleans). There is also a wide price variation in hotels. from 5 star (Windsor Court, Ritz-Carlton, Waldorf-Astoria) to properties that don’t even have a breakfast room.

However, if you need a number, use $750. That would be the typical cost of a 3-night stay ($250/night) at a medium-price hotel in the French Quarter (not including taxes).

Another option for you would be to call several hotels and average the costs. Be sure to get the price for nights during Carnival, and Mardi Gras Day is February 16th in 2010.

Expensive. Expect to pay over 1000 for a hotel room. Expect to pay close to 200 or more bucks a night for a hotel. You will need Spending money and book airfare as soon as you can. I would at least have about 100 a day for food, drinks, etc.

The earlier the cheaper for the airfare.

I looked on hotels.com and you can stay at the parc st. charlesfor 199.00 a night. Look for hotels that have complimentary breakfast to save a few bucks. I looked at it from thursday- wednesday and the total was about 1,194 for the whole trip. Most rooms on hotels.com have double beds.

As locals we save lots of money by hanging out a parades parties where we can refill drinks for free and eat for free.
