What is the best way to get from New Orleans Airport to the French Quarter?

Hi I am visiting New Orleans for the first time in April. My flight lands at 6pm in the evening and I am staying in the French Quarter. What is the quickest and most cost effective way of getting there and how long will it take?
many Thanks,
Jon

Other than renting a car your choices are (most convenient to least convenient):

Taxi: About $30 for 1 or 2 people
Shuttle: $15 per person
Public bus: About $2, plus a short taxi ride after you get to the city center.

If it was me and I was by myself I would take the shuttle. I would take a taxi if I was traveling with someone.

Unless you’re renting a car, then you’ll have to take a cab.

It may be possible to do by bus but it would be very unadvisable. And the streetcar definitely doesn’t run out to the airport.

Airport is in Kenner which is about 20-25 mins from the Quarter. Not sure how much a cab costs but there’s tons of them lined up outside of baggage claim waiting to transport visitors like yourself into the French Quarter and downtown.

    Have a great time!

Well, you could just take the bus down to Elks Place and walk the four blocks to the FQ.
