We have dinner reservations at 7:30, so I am wondering if we will be able to see any of it.

It would probably be difficult to do both…even if you catch the parade in the beginning of the route. Parades almost always do not start on time or a float breaks down, etc. holding up the parade. Also there will be a ton of street closures in the city. I would skip dinner reservations…just join the bandwagon and get some popeyes for the parade route while you wait.

There are numerous tour operators on the internet and I cannot decide which tours or company to use. Which tours do you recommend in terms of being most enjoyable, informative and value for money. Please help.

Other than renting a car your choices are (most convenient to least convenient):

Taxi: About $30 for 1 or 2 people
Shuttle: $15 per person
Public bus: About $2, plus a short taxi ride after you get to the city center.

If it was me and I was by myself I would take the shuttle. I would take a taxi if I was traveling with someone.
