In New Orleans, is the Warehouse District in walking distance of Bourbon?

Heading down to NOLA on a graduation trip with friends. Basically, we want to explore the city by day, and party by night. I've heard to stay in the French Quarter, but also see hotels in the Warehouse and Garden districts. Are either of these within walking distance of Bourbon Street or the French Quarter?

(Also feel free to recommend places to go and stay)
How late do the trolleys run?

Bourbon Street runs through the middle of the French Quarter.

The Garden District is not within walking distance of the French Quarter. As the other answers indicate, you can take the Saint Charles streetcar to the French Quarter, or take a taxi.

The streetcars are part of the public transit system: www.norta.com

The Warehouse District is closer to the French Quarter, but most of it is 7 to 12 blocks away. It would be a long walk or a short taxi ride to the FQ.

Some of my other recent answers include hotel suggestions and "things to do".

Hope you have a great time!

The french quarter and the garden districts are a pretty good distance apart. However, the St Charles Trolley makes it really easy to get between the two. Stay just about anywhere downtown and you'll be fine. There's lots of hotels there and within walking distance of the french quarter. To get to the garden district, just hop on the trolley.

No, they aren't within walking distance, but you can take the streetcar to there, the one that goes down St. Charles.

While you could walk from the Warehouse District, it's not a short walk, and the walk home to the WD could put you in some deserted, lonely areas that could lead to trouble late at night. If you choose the Garden District, you will definitely want to ride something because of the distance.

Basically, I would caution you on the use of late night public transportation for any city; it could leave you high and dry or in a not so nice spot. During the day time it's a great way to get places, but at night I would advise you use a taxi.
