Looking for a hotel/b&b in New Orleans (near french quarter) with balcony under $100?

My wife and I will be staying for 3-4 weeknights and are looking for a place in the french quarter with a nice balcony to enjoy. Any places or streets to suggest? Any midweek specials? thx

When you go matters a lot.

However, there are hotels still offering summer prices, and summer is low season for tourism in New Orleans.

Check http://www.frenchquarterhotels.com/ and http://www.villaconvento.com/ with your travel dates.

If you mean on Bourbon Street, there are only two hotels with actual balcony rooms overlooking the street:

http://www.sonesta.com/RoyalNewOrleans/

Wherver you decide to stay, call the hotel and speak with the on-duty manager (not just whoever answers the phone) to confirm you will get a balcony room. Ask them to send you a digital photo of the view from the room.

Good luck!

New Orleans airport to the french quarter. I take the E-2 to Tulane &Loyola. How do I get to St. Marie on bus?

Can I get into the French Quarter on a bus route, or do I take a taxi to the St. Marie Hotel? Is the walk long from Tulane and Loyola to Toulouse Street?
Thanks! What is the name of that route?

The thing is that you have to consider several things. You need to be aware of the time of day that you are going to be getting off the bus and the amount of luggage you have. To get to the next bus stop you will have to walk a good distance from Tulane & Loyola down Elk Place to Canal St., cross the street, take a right and catch the bus again on N. Rampart,(88 St. Claude-Jackson Barracks), get off after five blocks, walk down Toulouse a few more blocks to the St. Marie.

Basically you will be dragging luggage and walking more than you will be riding the bus once you get off at T&L. If you are getting in late, the Elk Place walk can be a bit iffy, and your luggage will make it obvious you are a tourist, (not a position I would want to be in after dark on Elk Pl.) You would be better off catching a taxi from the bus stop, or better yet just getting an airport shuttle or seeing if someone will share the taxi cost from the airport.

What is going on today 10/30 for Halloween in New Orleans down on Bourbon St? Anyone know of anything early?

Just wondering if there is anything going on down on Bourbon Street tonight for the night before Halloween? We were going to go out but didnt know if we should dress up.

Costume up or not .. one of the places to be for the most fun tonite, tomm, or any time is at OZ. Yes, it may "officially" be classified as a gay bar.. but trust me if you don’t insult the guys they will be most cordial and welcoming to you as well.

It’s on Bourbon toward the end of the French Quarter and an easy and safe walk.

Have fun.
